Warriors of the Deep

Postby Teh BURN » Sun Aug 15, 2010 9:01 pm

Part of the Beneath the Surface boxset. A season opener for Peter Davison.

Just watched and overall I liked it, I mean the Sea Devil's design was awful and the Silurian's movement was just off but Turlong and the Doctor were great, some really good stunts, a nice plot, great cast and a nice slice of TARDIS action.

7/10

Uhhhhh...did you see the Myrka? The production really let the script down IMO. 4/10 because Peter's acting is pretty damn good, worth 2 or 3 marks by itself.

No I didn't, what is it, but Peter's hair is WAY too short :P

That great big horrible thing, pretty hard to miss. Probably the worst prop EVER.

Mind you, it CAN crush bulkhead doors like they're built out of polystyrene blocks, so kudos to the guys inside the costume :P

Oh come on, it's not that bad! Personally, I love the Sea Devils in it. The Silurians are a bit crappy though...

A horrible story. A bad conclusion, it's missing part 5! 3/10 And Turlough, what a s**t head.

It's alright, though production was hurried and the Myrka was ropey. The cast give it their all.

The script was a bit boring really - the war scenario isn't very well shown - and it's a pretty basic base-under-siege by the end of it. The Silurians and Sea Devils are good - though the Silurians look smiley and the Sea Devils are unneccessarily Samurai like - sadly though it impacts on their two previous stories, which were great.

The acting was great by the main cast, the rest was a let down, this is even commented on in the directors commentary, esp the sea devils costumes, the myrka and the make up that all the base personal wear. I really did enjoy the bit were that doctor women trys to attack the myrka and it kind of waves it arms and electrocutes her, i was in stitches of laughter. The story seemed to have a slow pace, agian this is commented by peter D and mike tucker (i think). I also thought it was sad that they turned the Silurians third eye into a "dalek light" so you know who is talking and they seemed to talk very slowly. While it does have its moments its not one of the greats.

Not the best episode, but I quite enjoyed it. The Silurian and Sea Devils looked cool, the Myrka, well, does it need to be said? :P

I actually like the Sea Devils' redesign - though it makes absolutely no sense, it looks cool. :P

The Sea Devils did look cool, the Silurians were about as good as their original story though their voices were too robotic, and the Myrka was awful. :P
