The Hand of Fear is episodes which was first broadcast in four weekly parts from October 2 to October 23, 1976. These episodes were the last regular appearance of Elisabeth Sladen in the role of Sarah Jane Smith in Doctor Who.
Synopsis
When the TARDIS lands on Earth in a quarry, the Doctor and Sarah are caught in a mining explosion. She is found clutching what appears to be a fossilised hand, buried in 150 million-year-old stratum. Analysis shows the hand to be silicon-based and inert, but when Sarah begins to act as if possessed, the Doctor suspects that it may still be alive...
Hey there! In October 2012, I am going as part of a school group to Capetown, South Africa. As a developing country, Capetown lacks basic amenities that we here in the UK, USA, Australia or wherever you are visiting from take for granted. While we are across, we will be working within the community, teaching in the classrooms, helping in peoples homes and much more! So please, help me raise money towards the trip by visiting THE STORE section on the website, look through the different picture galleries of the items available (mostly Doctor Who!) and email me at operation.capetown@hotmail.com if you are interested in any of them! Also, you can donate to the cause by Pressing DONATE on the home page! Thanks in advance with any donations, Fraser Johnston http://capetown-2012.webs.com/

I liked the hand, and good acting all round.
Bit confusing slightly in the spacey bits at first though.

One of the 4th Doctors best outings and Sarah Jane had some good moments in what at the time was her last episode but as we know she returned more than once and still remains a big part of the Whoniverse today.
Tom Baker was on fine form and if ever a moment could sum up why I think he's untouchable as the best Doctor ever it would be the bit in this story where the planes are about to nuke the power station with Eldrad still inside.
Everybody is taking cover behind the vehicle except the Doctor who is looking on with his trademark grin like nothing serious was about to happen.
It's things like this that remind the audience that the Doctor is an alien as he reacts in a completely different way to a human and IMO it makes the character much more unpredictable and therefore more intresting.

Just seen Parts 1 and 2 on BBC4, very good so far, I like the scenes in the nuclear power plant.

It's the first time I've seen this in a number of years, I remember it was very watchable from when I first got the DVD but I'd not got round to sticking it in again. I'm sure I'll start watching an episode or story a night when my exams get underway to help chill out but...yeah, I digress.
I really enjoyed re-watching it, and it's nice that the story was very companion-based, a lot like some of the more modern stories to be honest. I enjoyed the chemistry between Tom and Lis too, definately a high rating story.
