Re: 4.05 Categories of LifeAn interesting episode.
It's an enjoyably silly series, though this one had some grimmer bits. Malonie guy was a jerk. The revelation at the end (not that 'revelation'!) ... I was probably expecting more, but it's a bit depressing I guess. Throws up some questions though - why? We still don't know who exactly are doing this? Aliens? Or, even worse, humans...?
Re: 4.05 Categories of LifeOh my god. That was amazing! So hard hitting.
Like the revelation last year that the 456 were using children as 'feel good' drugs. Makes you speechless.
Re: 4.05 Categories of LifeHmmm... I wasn't very keen on this episode at all.
It's just, well, the series could be SO good and it's just becoming a disappointment every week now. We actually moved somewhere last week, but we've just taken another step back (or two). We heard about the aliens last week and we forgot them this week, for example. While the 'revelation' was quite shocking (I heard that the ashes are actually used to make the drug, but I have a feeling that's just a stupid rumour), it felt rushed and packed in towards the end of the episode. It also seems like the whole episode was just treading water between the opening and the ending. John Barrowman has been actually quite terrible so far, as has the 'Rex' guy. We have the same 'argument' about Torchwood every week between Rex and the rest of the team, the same gay flirt from Jack every week (which was amusing at first, but is becoming predictable), every episode seems to combine the horror and depressing scenes with a joke or two (which isn't right! You want some time to soak it all in instead of laughing at a joke or two after someone has just died) etcetera etcetera ... It's not of the standard it used to be (which is nothing to do with the American location, it's just the writing which seems to be so lacklustre) It's just, I dunno. Boring? I can tell I don't like it when I feel I can dash out to the kitchen half-way through, without missing anything important... I really want the series to improve (as I loved Children of Earth), but I don't think it will sadly... It's not normally like me to criticise a television show to this extent (especially something from the Whouniverse) but it's just really quite bad. With every episode, as the credits roll, I can't help but feel that we should have learnt more. More about the aliens. More about the extent of the Miracle and more about Phicorp.
Re: 4.05 Categories of LifeThat was great! Better than the 3rd episode (I missed last weeks episode) and was mind blowing this week, just like COF when it was stated what the aliens wanted. Oswald was as usual very spooky and kind of freaked me out but his acting was brilliant and the way he wowed that audience was something in itself, the doctor woman (I still don't know her name halfway through the series, my god that is bad!) got shot which surprised me but with that man and the way he reacted was great acting. Oh and the way we now know they burn the bodies to make space is so clever yet simple it really works, when Rex said about how they had so many category 1 patients but they containers holding them are so small left me curious, and when we found out what they really did it chilled me down to the bone! Best of the series so far, 10/10.

Re: 4.05 Categories of LifeI've not commented on this series despite starting two of the threads and I don't tend to for big serials but this episode was very good. I still feel they could have shortened this series, a lot.
Oh dear, I've lost my signature again.
Re: 4.05 Categories of LifeWas it just me that thought that the young guy that stopped Jilly and said a weird "well done. your being noticed" etc, has the characteristics of a young Oswald? Or am I just being crazy.
Re: 4.05 Categories of Life
He seemed to me like some third party organisation bloke that is watching this unfolding as well as Torchwood from the outskirts, but whether they're good or not would have to be determined... It was great again, really gruesome towards the end really, couldn't believe it! Unfortunatley however it hasn't really developed who's behind it too much.
