très impressive Wilf (loving those antlers - great touch!) :)

It so happens I'm using Yana in my latest figure - it'll be the Master fleeing the Time War once it's complete. Some work with a nail file and scalpel has rejuvenated his face nicely but I'm wondering... I have pictures of a younger Derek Jacobi for reference and in a couple of them he's sporting a classic villainous goatee. What does everybody think - should I add such a feature to the sculpt as a nod to the Master's earlier appearances or go clean shaven like he did once he became the good professor?

Ooh... Sounds excellent!

And an interesting question! I think something small and understated could work, but if it's going to detract from the finished piece maybe not. Perhaps depends on the hair colour too? If he's younger with darker hair it could work better than if he's still 'old'?

He'll be young with dark hair - Yana mentioned that his memories start with him being a young man and if the Doctor's use of the Chameleon Arch is any guide, his external appearance won't have been altered when he turned himself human (I've always presumed he looks old in Utopia simply because he's been aging naturally since the transformation).

*double posts* ooh, I'm such a rebel! :P

"The Time Lords only resurrected me because they knew I'd be the perfect warrior for a time war..."

He's finished :) I decided to go with no beard since he'd already been clean shaven in his previous incarnation so it made sense that he'd agreed with the Fifth Doctor's comment in Time Crash that the beard was a bit rubbish (also he still didn't look quite as young as I was hoping for even after the modifications to the face and I suspected a beard would have made him look older still).

Anyways, there's only two figures involved in this custom and I don't doubt that somebody here will guess who they were straight away ;) so without further ado... The Master... before he ran away and became Professor Yana

Is it a Slitheen and a Dalek?

But seriously, that is brilliant. No mess or anything at all! You must have very steady hands! :)DT

bah - and I really thought I'd camouflaged the Slitheen parts too! :P

Thanks you two - glad you like him :)

...and you'd be surprised how unsteady my hands actually are - I can often be found just stood holding a wet brush and a piece of figure for a couple of minutes, waiting for the trembling to subside enough to do some fine spot of detail... by which time the paint on the brush has usually dried...

:o Brilliant work!

Personally I think he does look young - because Jacobi does have one of those faces that always look older than they are. 'Rebel' is what the figure screams out to me.

But yes - it has a strong 'story' in the design, so very well done indeed!

It looks good! Really good, pretty dark too.

And don't take it as offence at all, but the narrow and small eyes remind me of Roxy Mitchell from Eastenders, she has really small looking dark eyes. And the eyebrows.

Very good, and look, he doesn't change his tie and waistcoat at all.
