There’s something very different about this figure. Some things are ‘directly’ different - like the fact that he has a different style of ball joint connecting the legs to the body, as I’ll talk about later - but he’s also different just because of his ‘feel’ and the way in which he is built.
The Hoix as a character was only on screen for a very short period - his name wasn’t even given - and not many people were aware that he wore what can only be described as fishnet stockings! However, upon closer inspection, the sculptors have got him spot on, as the score above suggests, and I praise them for making a figure of such a small character - a trend I’d be happy to see continue personally!
The detail on this figure is simply stunning. He’s excellent in both the mould and the painting, more so than most figures. The work that has gone into him is certainly apparent and makes a lot of difference. His texture is wonderful and it’s great to just ‘fiddle’ with him to take it all in.
His legs, as mentioned earlier, are attached differently to the legs on other figures, and unfortunately it is a bit of a weakness. The ball joints on this figure don’t allow much movement, and actually pop off very easily! It also constricts leg movement, meaning that balance is something that’s difficult to achieve with this figure.
The hands, being claws, do look a bit odd. Claws seem to be a weak point with the figures, as they never look quite right, but they’re ok here as long as you don’t look too closely. However the head is one of the best that we’ve ever seen in terms of detail. The mouth, however, is a bit of a let down. The teeth look really fake, and just don’t work. They haven’t got it quite right, and it makes a difference.
Otherwise, this figure is certainly one of the best when it comes to detail, and he’s a very nice one to add to the collection for it, but there’s something different and odd about him that I just can’t put my finger on! Buy him, and see if you agree!
