This is a really great figure when it comes to realism and detail, but it does have a weakness. In my opinion the main problem with this figure is the fact that he is ‘possessed’, and they make too much of this.
Take the parts of the body that remain the same whether he’s possessed or not in the original episode - things like his legs and torso. These are really well detailed with wonderful paintwork - some of the best that we’ve seen. Indeed, the face also fits into this category. The sculpt of the hair is magnificent, really detailed, and his face is also very lifelike.
The possessed nature doesn’t actually pose a problem here - all the markings work very well on his face, and they are so tiny that it won’t actually matter if they don’t quite match up with the neck.
However it’s the arms and hands that are a bit odd. They’ve been moulded especially to look more ‘possessed’, and they do work in that respect, having those odd hand shapes that he pulled, but in doing this they’ve cut down on his posability value.
On a smaller, unrelated point, his belt also lets it down a bit. It’s so big and doesn’t have much detail, so does slightly detract from the otherwise great looking figure.
Apart from this there’s nothing wrong with the figure himself, they intended for him to be possessed and this does come across, but it also stops him from being used for other things. As David Tennant would say, he’s not ‘versatile’ enough. A shame really.
