Name Doctor 10 (in Spacesuit)
Posability 10
Sitting 5
Likeness to character 9
Overall 9 (7.5 for a child)

This figure is amazing in every way but one for a collector, and pretty poor for a child. I’ll start by talking from a collector’s point of view, before moving on to a child’s.

The paintwork here is very good. Sure the suit is all one colour, but it was in the show anyway and you can overlook that. The head sculpt is also better than any other Tennant sculpt and looks really realistic. The helmet has brilliant detail on it and looks great put on.

The main reason I love this figure, however, is the posability. It looks so real it can be scary. Subtle bends at the points of articulation can really make this figure come alive and look more human (or should that be Timelord?) and it’s a super one to display.

The only part that lets it down, and it does this very badly, is the little bit to clip the helmet into the suit. It, no matter what, will just not stay in. Even blue-tac won’t hold it and this is the one thing that spoils this tremendous figure.

However, you’re probably thinking, why a 6 for a child? Now I can’t verify this with personal experience, but I’ve heard stories of the spacesuit Doctor, when being played with, having both hands fall if repeatedly and the arms fall of at the bicep. The pack to slot into the back of the figure from the helmet also causes a problem. Looking at the figure, I can appreciate this and see how this could be a problem with it.

Therefore I think this figure is one which really does illustrate how Character Options seem to be taking the figures more into the collectors line, obviously now seeing that this is where their main selling point is.

I think this is a shame because whilst I prefer to look at them and pose them, I hate to think of children not being able to play with figures of their heroes, as I know when I was younger these would have appealed to me in that way and I would have found it disappointing to say the least if they had bad play value.
