“We are the legion of the beast!” But would you want a legion of these figures, that’s the question?! The Ood is undoubtedly a very good figure in many ways, but there are downsides - one especially.

The face sculpt, in my opinion, is magnificent. Really wonderful paintwork and lovely sculpting gives it a great feel and look. The tubing that leads to the orb stays in the mouth well and doesn’t look at all out of place, so that’s a relief! The pin sticking out of the hand isn’t great, but preferable to other methods and you don’t really need to take the Orb out I suppose! The tentacles also look wonderful.

However it’s the rest that’s a let down. I’d like to have seen the Ood with bicep swivels, it would have enhanced it a lot, as posability isn’t magnificent, though not bad. In the same way the sculpt isn’t magnificent, the lack of detail in the clothing sometimes looks a bit cheap, but the main downside is the paintwork. All of the clothes are grey, and this utter lack of detail is a huge downer. The identification tags are therefore pointless, and it looks bland.

This is very sad, as otherwise the Ood would have been a great figure, but does drag it down. There’s no doubt it looks ‘cool’, especially a ‘legion’ of them - but there’s still something to be desired.
