Absolutely bloomin’ marvellous is all that can describe this figure. Not only are we treated to a fantastic figure of the Cyberman these days, and a Cyber Leader, but we also get a Cyber Controller! And this does not disappoint!

With the same body as a Cyberman, except for 6 connection sockets on the torso, and a head showing the brain and colourful eyes, this figure doesn’t sound like much. And to be honest, unless you are a collector, a Cyberman figure is enough for you. However, those clever people at Character Options thought about this too, and came up with the perfect solution.

A few months after the release of the controller, they brought out a new look controller in his throne packaged with two guards. This is an absolutely brilliant idea, and they have done a really great job on the throne. However, the connection wires to plug into your controller are slightly flimsy, and really don’t look particularly impressive! It also really highlights a design fault with the Cybermen bodies. They can’t sit! The controller loosely lies in the throne at best, and you almost need the wires just to hold him in!

So pluses and minuses, but an essential buy for a Cyberman collection! (and the two extra guards really help to build up an impressive army!)

I had a lot of problems getting hold of a Cyber Controller, and if you are interested, here is the “great” story I call “How to get hold of the elusive controller for the best price possible!”

The Cyber Controller was originally a Toys ‘R’ Us exclusive, and very difficult to get hold of. My local branch is 40 minutes away, and the amount of times I’d ring, and they would disappoint me by saying they had none was unending. Finally, they had them in. I drove all the way there, went to to the collection desk, only to be given a Cyberman! Do the words “can you see it’s brain, and does it have colourful eyes?” mean nothing in today's society?!

Anyway, months later I was nearby watching a film at the cinema, and decided to try again. I went in, and they had one solitary shelf of Cyber Controllers! Hurray! So I hurriedly bought one! Upon my return home, and the subsequent removal of it from the packet, and placing on the shelf, I thought how brilliant it would be to get a throne for him. Sadly, I knew this was wishful thinking and left it there. More months past, and after Christmas I was planning out a list of all the new figures which I just had to own! Suddenly, on Amazon of all places, I found a picture. “Cyber Controller with two guards and throne” was listed. My heart skipped a beat. Sadly the price was tremendous, and I couldn’t afford it. A couple of weeks past, and I was lucky enough to be pointed to a link on Toys ‘R’ Us’s website, where they had them for £35. I thought about it for a night, and decided to buy one. Horror of horrors awaited me when I found that it was already sold out!

Fast forward a week, and I was lying in bed feeling ghastly. I had come down with a terrible bug, and only ‘classic Who’ DVDs could keep me company. Suddenly the phone rang. It was my mother. She had gone into Toys ‘R’ Us, and they had a Cyber Controller on throne with guards for £25. I asked her to buy it, and months later, on 4th April, I opened a birthday present containing the Controller on Throne. My wait had come to an end, and I owned one!
