Ah, this takes me back! The Doctor in his coat was the first figure I ever bought and has literally travelled the world with me since! By this stage CO were getting into their stride and the figures they were producing was much better quality!
Comparing the heads of this figure and of the regeneration 10th Doctor (see above) the changes are actually relatively minor, but make a huge difference. The eyes are closed slightly, the eyebrows are more realistic, and the hair is much more detailed. These mean a lot in actuality and improve the figure no end.
The coat is very nice and is more bendy than the jacket of the aforementioned regeneration figure, proving more realism and giving it a better feel. In fact, everything about this figure is superb!
This figure was, of course, later released with the Triangulation Gear. This simple addition made a lot of difference and looks very good on display, especially the backpack. The only problem with it is the flimsy wires, which don’t hold together very well.
The only real criticism I have is that it doesn’t have enough posability. The arms are about the only thing that you can really change, and even then it looks a bit unrealistic. The legs don’t move much either and basically you are stuck in one pose, a little disappointing then.
Still, a very obvious yet very nice figure and a real must have for a Who fan or collector!
