Woah. Now this is how to make an extremely good figure. Some figures flop, some figures are alright, some are good and then there’s that small bracket for the creme-de-la-creme of the figures world. This figure belongs in there.

Scificollector are extremely lucky that they had such a great costume to utilise. A lot of credit must go to the original designers because it really is excellent which gives a strong starting point. However it also means a huge challenge for a company like Character Options to get him right as an action figure or toy, let alone Scificollector. But the thought and detail that has gone into this is astounding.

From the shoes to his head everything is pretty much perfect. For example his face is possibly the best we’ve ever had from any figure. This isn’t just a good likeness - this is uncanny. From those chiselled cheeks and lips to the perfectly raised eyebrows this screams out Captain John.

The paintwork on his green top is really excellent too, it’s a flat sculpt but looks highly realistic because of the paint detail. His jacket is really excellent as well and the thought that has gone into this is evident when you find balljoints underneath the shoulder covers of it. These are excellent if they can be made to work, but on humans they show up too much generally. Here they are hidden and it allows both arms to be posed pretty much any way a human could, holding both guns up to the sky is very impressive for example.

Indeed even the guns are very well made with a lot of detail packed into them, and they fit perfectly into his hands without his hands looking unnatural. The holster and belt is very well crafted and made, it does look almost like leather! The detail on the trousers is superb, certainly among the best trousers we’ve seen on a figure and the detail is magnificent. The top of the boots is where the knee articulation is packed away, so it doesn’t look at all out of place. Suffice to say the boots are perfect as well.

So from top to toe that is just literally a brief overview of how good this figure is. I could go on for a long, long time about every part of him if you would be interested! It is seriously a must have action figure or toy not just for Torchwood or Doctor Who fans but for any figure collector. Like the best episodes of Torchwood on television, where scripts, costumes, acting, direction, editing and more come together to make something excellent, here sculpting, painting, planning and more have come together to create an astounding action figure.

You might expect this detail from an expensive statuette, but for this price it’s amazing. It is proof that the Torchwood range are worthy of being called highly collectable action figures, not just toys.
