What a marvellous figure! Throw ‘theory’ out of the window because ‘in theory’ everything about this figure is wrong. It’s got a bulky build, the joints are mostly ball-jointed, the neck and head are separate, and in a plain boiler-suit he’s not the most exciting sight. What’s so brilliant is that these points actually work in favour of the figure!
Whilst ball-joints usually don’t work well on figures, here, as with the Doctor Who Slitheen, they work perfectly. It gives him a huge amount of posability and a charm all of his own (and I never thought I’d say that about a Weevil).
The head also has an unusual feature whereby it’s ball jointed and can therefore look up, down, to the right, to the left and this gives it a lot of individual poses.
Of course balancing a figure like this in ‘Weevil’ poses would be difficult in any normal circumstance. Not so here because the great little ‘Torchwood T’ stand allows you to pose him in almost any way. He can stand hunched and inquisitive, howl at the moon, run in a Weevil way, anything! All of these poses work on him and balance well thanks to the articulation and stand.
The face is set in a constant open-mouthed position, but this doesn’t matter because it fits the character of a Weevil well, and if you want him in comics etc. he can just look a bit gormless with his mouth hanging open, or snarling and howling depending on how the rest of his body is posed.
Overall I think he’s a real treat, he works well in an army and in short he’s a must have for all figure collectors.
