What I love about this figure is that it isn’t simply Yana’s body with the normal Master’s head shoved on. They have actually re-sculpted a lot of bits to reflect the fact that he has just regenerated.

His collar is slightly open (obviously John Simm’s neck isn’t as thick as Derek Jacobi’s) and the cravat is slightly askew too. Even subtler is the different sculpting of the waistcoat on the back – it’s more loose – and the trousers have creases in them to reflect his slimmer legs, indeed the bottom folds down over the shoes and covers the laces slightly. These changes are small, I didn’t actually notice them for a while, but the attention to detail is proof again of Character Option’s love for these figures.

The only two problems of this figure, which is why the ‘.5’ of ‘Likeness to character’ is in brackets, are that the face is done in the old style of not having the last coat of paint, something which doesn’t help it, and for some reason the Master seems to have got a ring! This change is one that isn’t screen-accurate and I can’t help feeling takes away from the figure.

However at its core this figure is proof that Character Options isn’t completely money-driven and deserves our support. Thank you.
