EXTERMINATE! Ever since the first figures were brought out it has been a mystery to me why they have not brought out a Dalek! Slitheen, Sycorax, and Moxx of Balhoon’s are all fine, but it just seemed mad not to use such an iconic character. Now the light has been seen, and you no longer need to buy breakable remote control battlepacks to have a Dalek army.
The basic Dalek model is great. It looks just right, moves well, the only problem is weight. The inside of the Dalek model is empty and as a result they are a bit lighter than they look. It’s not too much of a problem, you get used to it, but the first time I picked one up I thought ‘oh’ because it didn’t seem right. These are scaled down figures and I feel the weight should reflect that.
It’s also a shame that not all Daleks could have a Mutant inside. The ‘cover’ is actually the same on all Dalek models, so it wouldn’t have affected the look, it’s just glued on with these Daleks. Quite a shame as that could be a real boost.
I am quite pleased by the fact that different Daleks have the different name tags though. It creates variety in collections and makes it worthwhile buying them all.
With Sec the black colouring looks very good indeed, especially when the eyepiece is painted blue (as with some re-releases) because when that was black too it all merged together a bit too much – especially in photographs.
One more point is that the gun arm and sucker stick are a little constricted in movement, and it would have been good if they eye could look down a little bit more. Still, again, these are ok.
At its heart this is such an iconic character and they’ve pulled off a great figure. The casing is great, it looks ‘Dalek’, and overall it’s a real must have!
