This is a great idea for a figure – something with a bit of interactivity that could make a fun addition to any Dalek collection. Unfortunately I can’t help thinking how much better this could have been.

For a start it is visually incorrect. It could have been so much better if this was the rumoured ‘damaged Dalek’, battered and tortured by Van Statten’s men. Having the handprint on that Dalek would really have worked well and could have been a very clever piece to an essential figure. Unfortunately this is basically just the ‘Dalek with mutant revealed’ without the all-important mutant!

The handprint, the focal point of the Dalek, is also a little disappointing. It looks quite nice but it’s very difficult to actually get rid of it (I don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve never been able to rub it away with my finger no matter how hard I try, only the radiator did it!) and it would have been much better if they could have worked out a way for the red to appear when rubbed rather than disappear, so it would be like the Dalek is initiating the cellular reconstruction from your DNA. I just think that would be quite fun!

So it’s a nice idea, and a fairly good figure, it is still the great Dalek body, but it could have been so much more.
